Data is like light. It’s the best growth agent known to man. Almost everything that is alive and growing needs light. People need “light” in life and at work when they intend to win. People who are really good at “shipping,” (Seth Godin’s word for executing or getting things done in his great book Linchpin) track their performance on the things that matter the most – behaviors and outcomes. That data allows them to course correct when they “see” where they are compared to where they want to be. Winners turn on the lights so they can see.
The best organizational leaders understand the principle of data as light and do their best to provide their people with the best performance data possible.
Are the lights on for you?
